Who can apply to become a KIC? Can an individual organisation apply to become a KIC? Who is eligible for EIT funding?

Answer:

Individual companies are not eligible to apply to become a KIC. As outlined in the Article 7 of the EIT Amended Regulation, only consortia of at least three partner organisations, established in at least three different Member States, independent of each other (within the meaning of Article 8 of Regulation (EU) No 1290/2013 of the European Parliament and of the Council), with at least two thirds of the partner organisations established in the Member States will be eligible to apply for the 2014 EIT Call for KICs. At least one higher education institution and one private company shall be part of each KIC. At the proposal stage, a KIC must propose a minimum of four and a maximum of six co-location centres.
