Programme Officer (AD 6)

The EIT is now organising a call for expressions of interest with a view to establishing a reserve list for Temporary Staff (TA) for the profile of Programme Officer. The place of employment will be Budapest, where the EIT seat is located. Applications from female candidates are strongly encouraged.

The Programme Officer will supervise, monitor and assess the Knowledge and Innovation Communities (KICs) of the EIT, their long-term strategies, operations as well as their portfolio of activities. KICs address major societal challenges by fostering innovation based on the principles of integrating the knowledge triangle of education, research and business. The themes addressed by the current nine KICs are:

  • Climate change mitigation and adaptation
  • Digitalisation - Future information and communication society
  • Sustainable energy
  • Healthy living and active ageing
  • Raw materials - sustainable exploration, extraction, processing, recycling and substitution
  • Food4Future - sustainable supply chain from resources to consumers
  • Added-value manufacturing
  • Urban mobility
  • Cultural and Creative Sectors and Industries

TASKS

In particular, the tasks of the Programme Officer will include the following:

  • Oversee KICs in their set-up, ramp-up, maturity and exit phase, support the KIC’s performance based on monitoring and allocation of EIT grants;
  • Continuously supervise and monitor KICs and their portfolio of activities, measuring results, impact and recommending improvements considering the EIT Strategic Innovation Agenda;
  • Assess KIC Strategies and Business Plans (i.e. plans for KIC’s activities in the upcoming period) with support from experts and ensure the plan will contribute to the long-term targets set in the KIC Strategic Agenda;
  • Based on KIC reports submitted, assess implementation with support from experts, propose corrective measures as necessary and decide on the final EIT grant amount;
  • Draft and update analytical reports, synthesis reports and/or briefings for the EIT Governing Board, EIT management and key stakeholders;
  • Liaise with the European Commission services and other stakeholders regarding thematic and innovation policy discussions and represent the EIT in meetings with relevant stakeholders, as well as promote synergies and cross-KIC collaboration in cross-cutting areas of relevance for the fulfilment of the EIT mission;
  • Contribute to the achievement of the EIT’s objectives through inputs to horizontal coordination activities, teamwork, proactive internal communication and inputs to the work of colleagues in other units.
