EIT Community Activities: working together to create innovation opportunities for all

Fighting global problems requires cross-sectoral collaboration

We don’t just break down barriers between academia, research, and business within sectors. To properly fight climate change and other massive societal challenges, we need to break down barriers between sectors. The ways to find solutions to what we eat, how we move, where we live, how we power our lifestyles, and more require a multidisciplinary approach.

That’s why the EIT Community comes together for what we call EIT Community activities.

Our EIT Community Activities tackle global challenges from multiple angles

We’re Fighting Inequity in Tech and Business

The sustainable future must also be an inclusive future.  Did you know that women make only 34% of self-employed in Europe, only 14.8% of start-up founders and 14% of inventors? Women are facing gender inequalities in access to finance and capital, networking opportunities, reconciling work and family life. They struggle with male business culture and prejudices & stereotypes about women in tech, business and leadership positions. This needs to change if we want to ensure social justice and sustainable growth. Join our tech, entrepreneurship and leadership programmes for women and girls and get the support you need to make the change happen!

In May 2022, a EIT Community programme dedicated to Women Entrepreneurship, called Supernovas was launched.

  • Supernovas is intended to complement and expand the efforts of KICs involved in supporting women entrepreneurship and leadership by proposing a transversal approach to enhance the presence of women in key roles of the entrepreneurship and innovation ecosystem in Europe, not only as nascent entrepreneurs, but also in other key decision-making roles shaping entrepreneurship and innovation for the future. The programme envisages to empower woman-led start-ups, enable women to join the early-stage funding industry and inspire role models across the sector.

  • Girls Go Circular – empowers schoolgirls to develop their digital and leadership skills while learning about circular economy and finding solutions for a sustainable future.

We’re not just focused on Europe – we’re also building connections abroad starting with our Hubs in Tel Aviv and Silicon Valley!

Learn more about how we’re connecting Europe’s innovation ecosystem to the world through the EIT Global Outreach Programme.

The EIT Global Outreach Programme is a collaboration between the whole EIT Community and is led by EIT Health. The EIT Global Outreach Programme and all KIC Global Outreach activities adhere to the EIT Global Outreach Strategic Framework.
