EIT Health-supported HealthTextiles making masks for hospitals

Making masks for hospitals

TorTex, made by EIT Health-supported start-up HealthTextiles, is an antibacterial, sustainable material for healthcare uniforms. TorTex fabrics also interface with a system that monitors for exposure to coronavirus and other infections, and the company is already creating face masks for hospitals in Sweden.

Made by HealthTextiles, TorTex’s method of monitoring healthcare garments is patented in Sweden, South Korea, and Israel, and is pending approval in the US.

HealthTextiles was able to achieve some of its international reach as a 2019 participant in the EIT Health Bridgehead programme, which supports start-ups with foreign expansion.
