Carzapp, a Climate-KIC supported start-up that simplifies car sharing by eliminating the exchange of keys, has launched a new crowdsourcing investment round. Private investors can invest amounts from €250 to €10.000 at www.seedmatch.de.

Carzapp has developed a revolutionary cloud-based hardware solution that enables consumers to securely rent out their cars without the need to exchange keys.

Car owners install an inexpensive device into their vehicles, linking it to the car's central locking system. Users are able to lock and unlock the car using a smartphone app.

The German start-up’s high-tech approach makes use of an innovative technology that will have great impact on the industry. This keyless, secure and simple solution makes the use of existing cars more convenient - and safer - than ever before.

Carzapp is already partnering with corporate clients such as Renault, Peugeot, Vodafone, E.ON and Capgemini in an effort to combine the advantages of electric vehicles and car sharing – lowering operating costs by up to 70%.

Climate-KIC support

Carzapp received Climate-KIC Greenhouse grants until March 2012. Following this, the company moved into new offices and scaled up their team to ten people.

Currently, Carzapp is also presenting its next generation of car sharing to the general public, potential partners and investors at CeBIT 2013.

Climate-KIC Germany continues to monitor Carzapp and regularly offers access to its Business Coach Network and Master Class programme.
