EIT Digital awards best deep-tech scale-ups
In November 2019, the 25 most promising deep-tech scale-ups competed in the EIT Digital Challenge 2019 finals in Brussels.
The 10 best companies received prizes totalling EUR 750 000, including international growth support from the EIT Digital Accelerator that was recently recognised as a World Top Public Business Accelerator.
EIT Digital has awarded the 10 best European Deep Tech companies in the EIT Digital Challenge scale-up contest 2019. A record number of 279 scale-ups from 33 countries applied, representing a 40% growth to 2018 and the highest country variety in the six-year history of Europe’s flagship deep-tech competition in digital. The EIT Digital Challenge targets European digital technology scale-ups focused on the fast growth of their business in Europe and worldwide.
The 10 awarded companies will join the EIT Digital Accelerator that was just recognised as one of the five World Top Public Business Accelerators and the programme with the best pan-European reach, and as Top 4 European Accelerator brand in the Start-up Heatmap Europe report. Besides, the first place in each category receives a EUR 50 000 cash prize.
This is not your usual competition where just the winners count. The 25 finalists have been carefully selected; they are all winners in the sense that they all have evidence of growth potential. The juries saw tremendous qualities in the 10 companies that came on top. We now welcome them into the EIT Digital Accelerator and will give them dedicated pan-European support for customer acquisition and fundraising. We want them to become large dominant companies in their respective markets.

The 25 finalists presented their innovative digital solutions to juries composed of tech specialists, investors, c-suite level executives of European technology corporations and EIT Digital experts. After a thorough examination of the market and internationalisation potential of each competitors’ business model, the judges selected 10 winners in five categories representing the EIT Digital’s strategic focus areas: Digital Tech, Digital Cities, Digital Industry, Digital Wellbeing and Digital Finance.
