Mr Kern outlines the EIT’s work and discusses how Bulgaria is dramatically improving its innovation performance, but can do more to reach its innovation and entrepreneur potential. In this respect, the three sides of the knowledge triangle (business, education and research) need to cooperate more closely. Bulgaria has significant strength in its human resources and intellectual assets, with a highly educated population and strong record of applications for Community trademarks.
Looking at the wider picture, Mr Kern points out that European culture tends to be risk averse but should be more open and accepting of mistakes and failures.
