EIT Food expands Food Accelerator Network programme for agrifood start-ups to Brazil

EIT Food has announced the expansion of its Food Accelerator Network (FAN) for agrifood-tech start-ups to Brazil.

The EIT Food Accelerator Network is a 2-3 month programme for agrifood-tech start-ups, currently delivered through five innovation hubs: Helsinki, Munich, Paris, Bilbao and Haifa. The programme enables the most promising agrifood-tech start-ups to accelerate, further validate their technology and advance their investment and commercial readiness to achieve successful market adoption.

The new FAN Hub in Brazil will be the first time EIT Food has expanded beyond EU and Horizon Europe associated states. The new hub will enable start-ups based in Brazil and other LATAM countries to benefit from the FAN network of corporate partners and investors, to support their international development in the European region.

The chosen start-ups will all develop innovative agrifood-tech solutions in line with EIT Food’s three missions: Healthier Lives Through Food, A Net-Zero Food System, and A Fully Transparent, Resilient and Fair Food System, thereby contributing to EIT Food’s global impact. The Brazil Hub will have a particular focus on the themes of food bioprocessing, next generation of plant-sourced solutions, and sustainable food packaging.

The FAN Hub will be operated by FoodTech HUB Latam, an innovation ecosystem operating across Latin America, based in Campinas, São Paulo. EIT Food’s existing Europe-based FAN start-ups will also benefit from support provided by FoodTech hub LATAM.

Applications for EIT Food’s entrepreneurship programmes – which support agrifood-tech start-ups to launch, accelerate and scale up – will open in December 2023.
