EIT ICT Labs is shortlisted for The European Excellence Awards for Idea Challenge communication campaign

The European Excellence Awards honour outstanding performance in a wide range of categories. With in-depth categories which cover everything from internal communications to public relations, as well as a wide range of industries from all across Europe, the Awards explore the full range of the profession, and provide a comprehensive look at the most exceptional examples of communication in Europe. With such a scope, the Excellence Awards ensure that achievements in all fields is acknowledged.

EIT ICT Labs is now shortlisted in the category Associations for the outstanding communication campaign that supported the Idea Challenge. The contest was promoted Europe-wide in on and offline media and resulted in almost 800 teams from nearly 28 EU-countries submitting their startup ideas.

“EIT ICT Labs is all about making innovation happen; to enable world-class innovation and entrepreneurship to thrive in Europe. The Idea Challenge is very important, because it helps us to identify new ideas and impulses across Europe. The communication campaign leveraged the awareness for this contest in the European startup scene”, explains Johanna Gavefalk, Marketing & Communications Director.

The Idea Challenge is a EU wide contest for innovators with the drive to found a business as well as early stage startups. The competition focuses on the eight most important trends in ICT which are also in line with the Action Lines of EIT ICT Labs: Health & Wellbeing, Smart Spaces, Cyber-Physical Systems, Future Cloud, Cyber Security and Privacy, Internet of Things, Urban Life and Mobility or Smart Energy Systems.

"I believe the Idea Challenge campaign has shown the true potential of our pan-European network. We were not only able to spread the message all over Europe with the help of our network, we also managed to attract and engage people with diverse backgrounds – from industry, investment companies, academia, research institutes, and startups - throughout the entire competition“, says Tobias Heger, Project Lead Idea Challenge.

The European Excellence Awards will be held in the Maison de la Mutualité in Paris on December 4, 2014.
