EIT Water: Evaluation Criteria Announced

In line with its strategy for 2021-2027, the EIT is preparing to launch a Call for Proposals for a new EIT Knowledge and Innovation Community (KIC) in the field of water, marine and maritime sectors and ecosystems. The Evaluation Criteria for this upcoming Call is now published.
The new EIT KIC will address critical water-related challenges by bringing together academia, business and research to drive sustainable innovation. In preparation for the upcoming Call to create this new EIT KIC, the EIT has published the evaluation criteria to help guide prospective applicants.

The criteria build on the principles set in the EIT Regulation and align with the EIT's mission ensuring that the selected proposal includes all the elements that make a successful EIT Knowledge and Innovation Community. With a strong emphasis on impact, innovation, and sustainability, the criteria will help applicants shape proposals that address Europe’s water-related challenges and strengthen the EU’s global leadership in this field.
Key dates and next steps
The next step in the process of designating the new EIT KIC is the launch of the Call for Proposals in January 2025 with a submission deadline set for June 2025. Interested applicants are also invited to attend the call’s information day in February 2025, which will provide further details about the application process.
Positioning Europe as a global leader
EIT Water will become the latest addition to the EIT’s portfolio of nine existing KICs, each dedicated to solving global challenges in areas such as climate, digital transformation, energy, health, raw materials, food, manufacturing, urban mobility, and cultural and creative industries. By launching the new KIC, EIT aims to help position Europe as a global leader in water innovation, contributing to the economic growth and job creation in the EU.
