Martin Kern's mandate as EIT Director extended

The Governing Board of the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT) has decided to extend Martin Kern as EIT Director for four years. This decision will help the EIT continue to deliver on its mission to create and sustain Europe’s largest innovation ecosystem and support students, innovators and entrepreneurs with access to entrepreneurial training and skills, innovation-driven research projects and business acceleration services. 

Nektarios Tavernarakis, the Chair of the EIT Governing Board stated: 'I am very pleased that the EIT can count on the continued leadership of Martin Kern as EIT Director. Under his helm over the past years, the EIT has successfully implemented a new strategy and spearheaded several flagship initiatives that strongly contribute to EU innovation priorities. I trust that in the coming years, Martin Kern will continue to serve as an experienced and motivated Director.’

Martin Kern brings extensive EU experience with 20 years at the European Commission and the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT). Before joining the EIT, he worked at the European Commission for 15 years in a variety of posts.
