EIT Stakeholders Conference – Addressing Societal Challenges through the EIT

Follow the conference live here: www.livestream.com/confeitcy. The Cyprus Presidency of the Council of the EU is organising a Conference entitled: “European Institute of Innovation and Technology Stakeholders Conference – Addressing Societal Challenges through the EIT”.

This Conference will take place in Larnaca, at Ktima Makenzy, on the 8th and 9th of November 2012. It is organized by the Research Promotion Foundation of Cyprus with the support of the European Commission Lifelong Learning Programme.

The objective of the Conference is to promote constructive dialogues between relevant stakeholders to explore ways in which the EIT could further contribute to the enhancement of the European Union’s innovation capacity. More specifically, it aims to bring together the European innovation community to discuss the future of the EIT, including the contribution of its existing and potential future Knowledge and Innovation Communities (KICs) to tackling Horizon 2020 societal challenges. Special focus will be given to the setting-up experiences of the first wave KICs, and the key elements for establishing a future KIC. The target audience will have emphasis in the participation of Representatives from the Higher Education, Business, Research and Innovation Communities and Decision-makers at the EU, national and regional levels.

The Conference will feature keynote speeches from Mrs. Androulla Vassiliou, the European Commissioner for Education and Culture, Dr. Stavros Malas, the Cyprus Health Minister, who is responsible for the Research Portfolio during the Cyprus Presidency, and Prof. Alexander von Gabain, the Chairman of the EIT Governing Board.
