Empowering Women Entrepreneurs in Health Innovation - Design Thinking Workshop

Enhancing Women Entrepreneurship in Healthcare

The Design Thinking Workshop is the first event dedicated to reflecting on the gender gap in women entrepreneurship. What is the current situation of women in health entrepreneurship? How is the role of women in business evolving and how can it move forward? Why are women so under-represented in tech/digital initiatives in comparison with men? The main scope of this workshop is to discuss the actions that favour women in their professional careers as entrepreneurs/intrapreneurs. What are the needs and expectations of women in terms of capacity-building and/or other types of services such as mentoring and networking? By using the Design Thinking method, we aim to explore new choices and alternative solutions to these questions.

Join us for a special event to celebrate International Women’s Day!

The workshop is jointly organised by IESE Business School, Imperial College London, Karolinska Institutet, Technische Universität München and P.A.U. Education, with the collaboration and the support of EIT Health.

The Project – WE Health

The project “Empowering Women Entrepreneurship in Health Innovation” (WE Health) is a strategic project of the EIT Health CAMPUS Programme for 2017. This initiative aims to enhance the participation of women in innovation and entrepreneurship activities, by providing capacity-building specifically tailored to their needs and by inspiring and supporting them to advance in their professional careers. The project also aims to raise awareness of the under-representation of women among health entrepreneurs and to generate new innovative ideas towards a more balanced EIT Health community.

The WE Health project looks to fulfill the following objectives:

  • Raising awareness of the need of more women-led start-ups and women health leaders, by means of new communications tools;
  • Developing new services (training and mentoring) tailored to the specific needs of women, taking into account the findings from our own assessment study and a literature review on gender-specific topics;
  • Creating a space for all interested actors involved in women entrepreneurship and gender issues, through the design and setting up of a Network of Women Health Innovators.

The project partners are: IESE Business School, Imperial College London, Karolinska Institutet, Technische Universität München and P.A.U. Education.
