Climate-KIC: Three weeks in on the #ClimateJourney16

Climate-KIC journey week three

As our Journey students finish the third week of their summer school we take a look back at what they’ve been up to in Valencia, Munich, Zurich and Budapest.

More than 220 students from over 45 countries, representing 50 disciplines, are currently taking part in Europe’s largest climate change education programme – the Climate-KIC summer school.

The Journey summer school is an introduction to the world of climate change entrepreneurship. The students learn about making decisions, pushing boundaries, getting out of their comfort zone, improving performance and reinforcing their confidence. Set over 13 locations across Europe, this year’s programme is Climate-KIC’s largest summer school and is divided into six separate groups. Each group travels to three different locations gaining insight and experience from a selection of Europe’s best universities and most innovative businesses.

After an introduction into climate change and entrepreneurship the students will start work on forming their own climate change business idea. The shorter three-week edition of the Journey began this week in Zurich and Budapest. Meanwhile the first two groups of students have now entered their second leg of their Journey, moving on to sunny Valencia and Munich.

Munich City Tour

The second groups of Journey students kicked off their Journey experience in Munich with a city tour, which included site visits at the packaging free store and an underground hydropower plant

Budapest Airport

Budapest Airport welcomed Journey students for a site visit to learn about their Greenairport programme

Speed-dating

The students in Zurich this week engaged in a speed-dating session at Zurich’s Impact Hub where they met a variety of start-ups.

Inspiration

Valencian Journey students learnt from the best when they received an inspirational talk from Jackie Hernandez, Vice President of Operations & Customer Engagement at Plug and Play Tech Center in Silicon Valley.
