EIT and EUIPO Renew Partnership to Strengthen Innovation Through Intellectual Property

The European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT) has renewed its strategic partnership with the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) aiming to empower Europe’s innovators in harnessing intellectual property (IP) for their sustainable growth and competitiveness.
The EIT is pleased to announce the renewal of its collaboration with the EUIPO through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding and a common work plan for 2025 aimed at advancing innovation and intellectual property awareness across Europe.
Building upon our initial 2020 cooperation, this renewed partnership underscores EIT's commitment to equipping innovators and entrepreneurs with essential IP skills and knowledge. By integrating IP education into our entrepreneurial programs, we want to boost the capacity of European innovators to effectively manage and protect their intellectual assets.
The agreement involves joint initiatives, including workshops and training sessions, focusing on the intersection of IP and innovation. These efforts are designed to foster a robust innovation ecosystem where IP rights are recognized as vital tools.
In 2024, the EIT and EUIPO delivered 41 joint activities, reaching nearly 7,000 participants and boosting IP awareness across Europe. Building on this momentum, the 2025 work plan will focus on tailored training for SMEs, startups, women entrepreneurs, and the EIT’s youth education community.
Highlights include an IP Masterclass in April for EIT Girls Go Circular students and teachers − exploring innovation in digital sectors like gaming, music, and fashion − and the Ideas Powered for Business network event in Alicante on 28-29 April. The collaboration remains dynamic, with new initiatives welcomed throughout the year.
EIT values the continued collaboration with EUIPO, recognizing that such partnerships are instrumental in driving Europe's innovation agenda forward.
