EIT Health: 16 start-ups selected for Product/Market Fit

EIT Health Product Market Fit

Product Market Fit Partners will work with them to launch their services in other European markets

If start-ups in the health sector are going to achieve meaningful growth, and if their innovations are going to benefit a wider audience, they will have to go abroad – which means understanding new regulations, a different culture and an unknown set of market realities. As an EIT Health Accelerator programme, Product/Market Fit does exactly that: helping start-ups that have already established themselves in one market to expand beyond their borders.

In the first quarter of 2018, 48 companies applied to the Product Market Fit programme. After the evaluation process, 16 were selected to conduct a product market fit exercise in another European country.

These companies have now been matched with the EIT Health Product Market Fit local Partners who will assist them over the course of the year to see how their product can be fit and launched into Sweden, Estonia, Spain, UK, Germany, Belgium, the Netherlands and France.

The 16 selected projects are :

  • Ad Scientiam: The aim of Ad Scientiam is to provide better health data. Rather than collecting data blindly, they believe it is more important to determine which data will be the most appropriate to improve patient care. Their ambition is to develop clinically validated medical applications to help patients throughout their care pathway.
  • Renaltracker: RenalTracker is a web/mobile behaviour-changing platform for Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) empowering patients through personalised, coach-guided wellness in-between doctor's visits.
  • Implicity: Implicity empowers physicians and patients to focus on preventive medicine. They use connected medical devices and A.I. to make remote monitoring (R.M.) impactful and easy.
  • Invivox: Invivox is a global platform connecting doctors for Peer 2 Peer training.
  • Kinetikos Driven Solutions: Kinetikos’s Cloud-based platform combines artificial intelligence with accurate biomechanical models with best evidence-based guidance. The benefits are both higher accuracy-of and shorter time-to decision resulting in cost-effective services. The Kinetikos team is actively bridging the gap between research capabilities and clinical application to increase reliability of assessments and recommendations to improve patient outcomes at lower costs.
  • Kontigo Care AB: Kontigo Care does not accept that patients only have a 20% chance of reaching long-lasting sobriety, therapists do not have any medical devices that can help them to provide better treatment outcomes and care providers lack solutions for efficient resource allocation. With the eHealth-platform Previct the therapist receives information about the patients behaviour and therapy compliance in between therapy visits.
  • WILDSMILE: WILDSMILE created and developed a platform to facilitate universal access to oral health, bringing patients closer to dental professionals. The company provides access to the professionals of the dental sector so that they can carry out their best deals and clinics can improve their performance with access to products and services provided on more favorable terms.
  • Mindpax: Mindpax is a health technology company helping bipolar psychiatric patients to manage their diagnosis through continuous monitoring and data analytics.
  • No Isolation: No Isolation builds communication tools designed to reduce involuntary loneliness and social isolation in vulnerable groups in society. Their first product is AV1, is the world's first communication robot tailored for children with long-term illnesses. Their second product is KOMP, the one-button communication device for seniors (75+ years). KOMP is tailored to its users’ needs and wishes, allowing seniors with little to no previous experience or knowledge of internet-based communication products to easily stay in touch with their next of kin.
  • ORCHA Healthcare: ORCHA's vision is to revolutionise health and care provision through the full integration of digital health solutions into all aspects of health and care support and provision. They believe that digital health products are one of the major weapons in the fight that all advanced health systems face, to provide support for an ever-ageing population with more complex long term conditions.
  • Oxypoint: Oxypoint optimises oxygen care with a focus on patient comfort. Oxypoint significantly improves the efficiency of oxygen therapy in hospitals by making Oxygen-administering more comfortable for the patients, while reducing the spillage associated with traditional hospital oxygen delivery through classic flowmeters.
  • Quompium: Qompium is a start-up focusing on the development and commercialisation of low-cost and user friendly medical grade mobile applications for a better health. The first product, FibriCheck, is a CE-certified (FDA pending) diagnostic solution to detect irregular heart rhythm disorders, such as atrial fibrillation, outside the clinical environment by monitoring the heart rhythm of the patient using only a smartphone (combined spot-check) or smartwatch (semi-continuous data).
  • Sensory Technologies: Sensory Technologies provides an innovative solution to prevent and replace medical treatment within private and public healthcare facilities all over the world. The problems they have been working to solve are the same problems being faced by almost every health economy in the western world, an ageing population, increased complexity of illnesses, a limited amount of money, medical staff and hospital beds, and an expectation by citizens of better care, not less or worse care.
  • Somatix: Somatix is a leader in wearable-assisted gesture detection for real-time health intervention and wellbeing enhancement. Their technological core – the Somatix real-time gesture detection platform – leverages sensors in commercial off-the-shelf smartwatches, smartbands and IoT connected devices. It additionally employs adaptive machine learning and predictive analytics to passively monitor massive volumes of gesture data, for precision recognition of a range of physiological and emotional indicators – all to facilitate personalised, cognitive behavior therapy incentive-assisted health intervention.
  • Wanderwatch: Wanderwatch gets kids (6-11 years) off the couch and back outdoors again. They do this with interactive outdoor play while combining the fun of interactive games with all the good aspects of outdoor play. With the use of their innovative technology outdoor play is fun, versatile, safe and meets the requirements of modern society.
