European Summer School for Innovation in Chronic Disease Intervention (euVENTION)

euVENTION is a two week program which uniquely covers all the necessary steps and tools to create your own startup. It is designed for all open-minded people, who want to change something, in the health sector. No matter what the background is, everyone can contribute their expertise and all disciplines are welcomed. Ranging from medicine and life science to social sciences and humanities, from IT to business, from science to communication and design. euVENTION’s overall goal is to improve prevention and treatment options for middle-aged (50-70-year-old) people, threatened by or suffering from chronic diseases (diabetes, coronary heart diseases, psychological disorders). Before the Summer School begins, participants are trained through the MOOC, called: Healthy Ageing in 6 Steps. On site in Heidelberg, teams of three-to-five participants work jointly to overcome challenges in combining prevention and treatment of chronic diseases with modern and active lifestyles. euVENTION generates actionable results while qualifying participants to use state of the art innovation methods (design thinking, rapid prototyping, business modelling) for future healthcare related endeavours. At the end of euVENTION, participants will have run through all phases of a real-world innovation project.

Join the Summer School and change the way chronic diseases are prevented and treated. Develop tangible, groundbreaking solutions for real-world challenges. With challenges stemming direct from health care practice and the work floor, EIT Health experts will ensure you will create a viable and desired product or service.

IBD4Health: Summer School for Innovation on Big Data for Healthy Living

IBD4Health: Summer School will include presentations by researchers on Big Data, as well as presentations by company experts on Business models. The theme of the Summer School focuses on the technology, business, value chain, safety and security aspects of future Health Clouds. The School provides participants with a broad but high-level scientific background in the field, and important skills such as teamwork, management of complex processes, conceptual approaches, entrepreneurship and high intercultural awareness. Through the case study on obesity, multidisciplinary participants will be invited to discover, step by step, the main sources of data and efforts to develop new tools on large-scale data processing application, which involves very complex systems and sophisticated mechanisms. Data collection on a large scale could provide materials for in-depth analysis of different causal and contributory factors, supporting the development of effective interventions and public health approaches to tackle obesity. During the School, the participants will be introduced to Creative Thinking as well as applied Design Thinking challenge and Pitching. And finally, throughout the last day, they will present (pitch) their projects in front of a business panel, who will join the session and provide their valuable feedback.
