On 7 June 2016, the second edition of the 'Energy Transition Trophies' organised by L’Usine Nouvelle – a leading French industry magazine - took place in Paris. Eight trophies were awarded by a jury of energy professionals to reveal and reward the people, companies and projects engaged in an exemplary way in the energy transition.
KIC InnoEnergy France once again renewed its support for this event and was one of four companies to partner around these Energy Transition Trophies – along with ADEME, Dalkia EDF and Groupe Renault. The jury members awarded eight trophies to those exemplary initiatives, which covered various categories: Energy Efficiency, Start-up, Technology, Digitalisation, Smart Grid, Transportation, Renewable Energy and Special Jury Award.
Frédérique Pedreno, Business Creation Officer France, took part in the jury, was a speaker at the event, and was in charge of rewarding the winner of the Start-up Award. Indeed, being head of the department that selects and supports innovative energy start-ups in France, she is well aware of what makes a promising start-up stand out. In this category, the nominees were French start-ups Eco-Tech Ceram, Carré products and Aksea.
Eco-Tech Ceram was awarded in the Start-up category for its new eco-efficient, transportable and modular thermal storage solutions. Huge amounts of heat are dissipated in vain in the industry. Eco-Tech Ceram proposes to retain this heat, for reuse or resale. The heat is stored in ceramics, which are obtained by recycling inorganic industrial waste (learn more here). Congrats to Antoine Meffre, CEO, and to his team for this prestigious award!
The KIC InnoEnergy team would also like to congratulate Thibault Gouache, CEO of Cornis, the SME which won the Technology Award that evening. Thibault was a much-appreciated speaker at The Business Booster in Berlin last year.
