Launch of EIT Hub UK: Bridging the EU and UK Innovation Ecosystems

The European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT) is thrilled to announce the official launch of the EIT Hub UK, following the United Kingdom’s recent association to Horizon Europe

The Hub is part of the EIT’s Global Outreach Programme that acts as a bridge linking the EIT’s innovation ecosystem with those of outreach locations, forging synergies with global innovation leaders.

Following the agreement on the Windsor Framework in 2023, the EU and the UK have been making steady progress in exploiting the full potential of the TCA. The UK having joined Horizon Europe at the beginning of 2024 and the EIT Hub UK are concrete great examples for this.

Maroš Šefčovič, Executive Vice-President for the European Green Deal, Interinstitutional Relations and Foresight and EU Co-Chair of the Partnership Council established by the EU-UK Trade and Cooperation Agreement (TCA)

With UK association to Horizon Europe, we opened up a range of new opportunities for both sides. The new EIT Hub will bring together innovators from the EU and the UK to work together on solutions to our common challenges. I look forward to our collaboration continuing to bear fruit, shaping a future that we want.

Iliana Ivanova, European Commissioner for Innovation, Research, Culture, Education and Youth

The EIT Hub UK in London serves as a testament to the partnership between the EU and the UK in driving innovation and addressing global challenges.

In 2021 and 2022, the EIT Community has worked with over 110 UK partners coming from business, research, education, cities, regions and NGOs. The EIT Hub UK will be a one stop shop for EU and UK innovation players, by leading matchmaking activities, immersion visits and building a bridge for commercial collaborations.

The hub will bring together start-ups, scale-ups, corporates, research institutions, and other stakeholders to connect, collaborate, and co-create innovative solutions to pressing societal challenges. Through a range of programmes, events, and initiatives, the Hub will provide valuable support and resources to entrepreneurs and innovators, empowering them to scale their ventures and make a meaningful impact on a global scale.

The launch event of the EIT Hub UK is taking place on March 12, bringing together key stakeholders from the UK and Europe to celebrate this momentous occasion and explore opportunities for collaboration and partnership.
