Over EUR 500 million raised by EIT Health Gold Track alumni

Over the last four years, EIT Health’s Gold Track Programme, run in partnership with Advice Connect Inspire LLC, has paired top-flight European start-ups with world-class life science advisors to accelerate their growth, unlocking ambitious business plans and investment opportunities within short time frames.

Participating start-ups have gone on to collectively raise over EUR 500 million in funds. Since 2019, the programme has supported 45 companies across 15 European countries with customised strategic advice, all of which had massively scalable technologies across 19 different therapeutic areas including Biotech, Medtech, and Digital Health. In terms of investment, many alumni companies have secured investment from funding rounds including: Ochre Bio, a biotech start-up developing RNA therapies for liver disease, who closed a EUR 30 million Series A funding round; AI drug discovery company Turbine raised EUR 25.5 million in their series A funding round; and pioneering gene-editing company Eligo Bioscience also secured a USD 30 million investment.

Additionally, Gold Track cultivated three successful exits: PhagoMed was acquired by BioNTech, Rahko merged with Odyssey Therapeutics, and OmicEra was acquired by Exact Sciences.

Gold Track was really transformative for PhagoMed. The mentorship and advice were excellent and contributed to our successful exit to BioNTech. Participating in Gold Track is a game-changer for young companies to fast-track their development.

The key element of the Gold Track programme was the exclusive access to the Expert Council, a world-class pool of executives, investors, and experts in their respective fields, all of whom are passionate about contributing to strengthening the European healthcare system. Either directly or indirectly, the Expert Council members were central to the success of the Gold Track companies. In addition to the Expert Council members, the Strategic Leads, Programme Directors, mentors and experts who participated in Gold Track were all instrumental to the success of the companies.
