European Partnership for Personalised Medicine opens up new opportunities for EIT Health Partners

The newly launched European Partnership for Personalised Medicine (EP PerMed) combines European Commission (EC), national and regional funding with the aim of improving future healthcare for all citizens through personalised therapy, diagnosis and prevention.

It has just launched its first Joint Transnational Call 2024 (JTC2024) for research projects that foster the identification or validation of targets for personalised medicine approaches.

What is Personalized Medicine?

PM utilizes an individual's genetics to guide prevention, diagnosis, and treatment, tailoring precise therapeutic strategies and minimizing side effects.

What is EP PerMed?

EP PerMed unites ministries, funding organizations, and research institutes across 24 countries and 10 European regions. Aligned with the Strategic Research & Innovation Agenda for Personalized Medicine (SIRA for PM 2023), it translates the long-term vision of PM into actionable roadmaps, fostering collaboration based on extensive international experience.

EIT Health's Role

EIT Health contributes innovation and acceleration expertise to EP PerMed, aiding the transition from research to implementation. Although not a granting body, EIT Health provides services such as co-designing innovation calls, hackathons, matchmaking events, and more.

Value for EIT Health Partners

EIT Health Partners gain access to the European personalized medicine network, extra funding opportunities, knowledge-sharing, and influence on EC policy. EIT Health will oversee Education and Fast-Track Calls, while other EP PerMed partners lead major Innovation Calls and JTCs.

JTC2024 Overview

JTC2024 aims to support research projects identifying or validating personalized medicine targets, encouraging interdisciplinary collaborations and cross-sectorial partnerships. The Call has a EUR 40 million budget, and stakeholders are invited to participate. An information day for prospective applicants will be held soon.
