Two startups from the EIT Digital ecosystem selected as finalists for 'Dutch start-up of the year'

EIT Digital Storro and Plugify

The Dutch ICT magazine Computable has shortlisted two Dutch scale-ups in the EIT Digital ecosystem - Storro and Plugify - as potential winners of the annual Computable Award for best startup inthe Netherlands.

The winner will be revealed on 31 October, and readers of Computable can vote online for their champion.

The Computable Awards have been held for 12 years in a row. The 'Award voor Nederlandse start-up van het jaar' is merely three years old. Last year the Dutch company Startmonday won with their smart online job hunting kiosks, and in 2015, the honour was given to Redsocks, an IT-company in Cybersecurity.

The prize-winning start-up receives the prestigious award and the honour to call itself the ‘best start-up of the Netherlands' for one year. The magazine Computable will publish a series of articles about the winner in its online magazine and in the paper edition that appears six times a year.

Over 90 start-ups were admitted in the first round of the competition. Now only 10 remain, amongst them two companies from the EIT Digital ecosystem:

Storro

Storro, winner of the EIT Digital Challenge 2015, has launched a safe alternative for cloud services where sensitive files can be saved and shared. EIT Digital Business Developers have amongst others set up a path to Access to Finance that has eventually led up to investors funding half a million euros in the company.

Plugify

Karens Grigorjancs, one of the co-founders of Plugify, graduated in 2015 from the EIT Digital Master School. He managed to collect almost EUR 750 000 in crowdfunding one year later for the music platform where people can book artists easier and cheaper than with traditional music booking agencies. His co-founder Eline Leijten has convinced the Computable jury in a pitch some weeks ago that Plugify deserves to be in the top ten.

The readers of Computable can vote for the startup they want to win the award starting on 4 July 2017. The public voting and the voting of the members of the jury each count for 50 percent of the total result. The winner of the contest will be announced on 31 October.
