EIT Concludes First Cohort of Training on Artificial Intelligence for EU Agencies, Training Over 400 Participants

The European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT), in collaboration with EIT Digital, has concluded the first intake of sessions in its comprehensive training programme on artificial intelligence (AI) for the EU Agencies Network (EUAN).
This initiative underscores the EIT’s commitment to enhancing AI capabilities and to provide free, tailored training sessions in light of the upcoming implementation of the EU Artificial Intelligence Act (EU AI Act).
Training Highlights and Key Learning Modules
The EIT delivered training to 407 participants from 59 EU Agencies, Joint Undertakings, Executive Agencies, and other EU institutions. The sessions equipped participants with relevant skills, as nearly half of the respondents (46% of feedback received) reported they were extremely likely to implement the newly learned content in their work.
The training programme spanned nine sessions from January to April 2025. It was developed by EIT Digital in collaboration with the University of Ljubljana’s School of Economics and Business. The programme featured seven learning modules.
The first two modules – Introduction to Generative AI and AI Governance, Ethics, and Regulations – are designed for EU staff with no prior background in AI. Participants learn the essential principles of how AI works, what makes Generative AI unique, and why it is becoming a game-changer in both public and private sectors. They also gain proficiency in understanding key frameworks such as the EU AI Act and the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), alongside other relevant aspects of regulation such as copyright and its intersection with AI.
Subsequent modules cater to the AI-related needs of various sub-networking groups within the EU Agencies Network. These include:
- Data Security and Privacy in AI Systems
- AI for Legal and Compliance
- AI for Workflow Optimisation and Resource Management
- AI in IT – Enhancing Operations and Security
- AI for Improving Effectiveness in Public Procurement.
In April 2025, the EIT launched the second intake of nine AI training sessions.
Scaling Impact Through Europe’s Innovation Ecosystem
The EIT’s success is built on its unique model of uniting business, research, and education through its Knowledge and Innovation Communities, helping to power innovations that tackle Europe’s most pressing challenges. This training initiative reflects that model in action by delivering practical skills and supporting institutional readiness for the digital age.
