EIT Urban Mobility: Urban Radar receives France's Greentech Innovation Label

The French start-up Urban Radar was awarded for its innovation in urban planning software, which helps reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

The label is given by the French Ministry of Ecological Transition to start-ups and entrepreneurs whose innovations contribute to the green transition. EIT Urban Mobility backs Urban Radar due to its clear potential in this area. Urban Radar now joins a club of 247 laureates who benefit from the visibility and network that come with the label.

Urban Radar is a cloud platform founded in 2019. It helps cities achieve their environmental, social, and operational goals by providing them data on all aspects of city life.

Urban Radar was selected in 2020 by EIT Urban Mobility for the Scale-up programme, allowing the start-up to launch a pilot in Barcelona on curb management and urban logistics. After this initial test, Urban Radar decided to expand within the Spanish market. EIT Urban Mobility gladly supported this expansion by offering office space in its HQ in Barcelona. And the start-up is off to an incredible start: during the 2022 Barcelona New Economy Week (BNEW), the Spanish Minister of Transportation, Raquel Sanchez, gave Urban Radar the Best Mobility Start-up award .

Today, the start-up offers three solutions to turn data into real improvements to city life. Citizen’s Needs scores equity gaps in urban planning and how close citizens are to essential services. Fret Impact maps areas of traffic congestion and vehicle emissions. And FlexCurb reveals how curb space is allocated and used and how they can be improved to meet resident needs.
