EIT Climate-KIC PhD summer schools

Join a community of change-makers and share your knowledge and skills to develop solutions to climate change issues.

EIT Climate-KIC's two-week Summer Schools have climate-related topics and take place in different European locations. Connecting PhD students from around the globe, the Catapults are hubs for new ideas with interdisciplinary approaches.

Combining knowledge from various disciplines, new skills are acquired and innovative ideas brought to life. A combination of discussions with international academic experts and practitioners, creative transferable skills sessions, inspiring workshops, site visits and assignments create a unique learning experience for our students. In addition to the delivery of knowledge and skills, the programme is about connecting people and ideas.

In the summer of 2017 EIT Climate-KIC offers three editions on different topics and locations:

Sustainable Production Systems: Shaping cross-company innovation

20 August – 2 September in Gothenburg and Frankfurt

The industrial sector uses a large part of raw materials and more than half of the global energy consumption. Where better than here could innovations lead to meaningful transitions? Apply the concepts of closed-loop value chains and circular economy to innovation processes for one of the major manufacturing industries in Europe: the chemical industry which will serve as a case study for the two-week programme. Engage with stakeholders, discuss with experts, work in interdisciplinary teams and develop innovative solutions for the real-life challenges of chemical companies and clusters.

Deadline for registration: 1 July 2017

The combination of four different problems of rural areas will serve as base challenges: water management, forestry, sustainable agriculture and the decline and ageing of the population. These will be introduced with both Hungarian and Spanish examples – showing the different realizations of the same problematic topic throughout Europe. Come and join our programme to pinpoint local and global solutions, to learn and apply different tools for system innovation, to engage with stakeholders, meet with experts and work in a multidisciplinary environment.
