Climate-KIC: Placements and knowledge development for climate professionals - Apply Now!

Are you a professional active in the climate change space? Join Climate-KIC’s Pioneers into Practice programme today and get placed in a different environment for two months to broaden your network and stimulate innovative thinking.

Tackling climate change is a tough task, there is no magic bullet. It requires action from a broad range of actors to implement the social and technological changes needed to meet Europe’s emission reduction targets.

Addressing these challenges requires pioneers who are multi-skilled, able to combine technical specialisations with social understanding and entrepreneurial spirit. This is what Climate-KIC’s Pioneers into Practice programme sets out to support.

The programme brings together a broad range of professionals – from industry, small companies, universities, research institutes, public bodies as well as NGOs from selected regions to develop cross-disciplinary and international understanding.

The application period for the 2014 edition of the programme ends on 21 March.

Pioneers into Practice

Pioneers into Practice is a two-month knowledge development and placement programme that brings together professionals from industry, small companies, universities, research institutes, local councils as well as non-profit and public organisations.

Climate-KIC takes you out of your comfort zone and places you into new settings. The first month of the placement takes place in the participant’s home region. The participant is given a specific task, and also learns more broadly about their new environment.

This placement is complemented by a mentoring programme which involves an introductory workshop on sustainable transition with training materials and a two-day concluding workshop where participants share their placement experiences and wider thinking on systemic innovation.

This process is broadly repeated for next one-month placement, when the participant will work in one of the other regions that take part in the programme.
