EIT Alumni participate in premier European healthcare event

EIT Alumni were thrilled to be part of 2023's HIMSS European Conference & Exhibition on 7-9 June in Lisbon, Portugal. 

Without a doubt, one of the highlights of the event was the incredible energy and vibrant atmosphere brought to Lisbon by the EIT network. Several EIT Alumni ,EIT Health, and EIT Health Innovators Community members played active roles as speakers, judges, forum chairs, and presenters.
 
EIT Alumni President, Anca del Rio, MSPH, represented the EIT Alumni Community and acted as the chair of the Innovation Forum at #HIMSS23. Both President del Rio and EIT Health Innovation Director Cristina Bescos shared their expertise and insights on succeeding as health tech entrepreneurs. 
 
EIT Health presented start-up pitches for the Pitchfest and Award Ceremony. As the head judge for the "Most Likely to Scale" category, President del Rio played a crucial role in evaluating the pitches while EIT Health provided in-kind awards to the deserving winners. 
 
This is has been an exceptional opportunity to learn from visionary leaders and witness the innovative ideas shaping the future of healthcare.

Winner Category 1: Most Promising Startup: Doctomatic – Carmen Rios Benton – Co-Founder - Spain

The product: A remote patient monitoring app that helps healthcare professionals analyse and evaluate information from their patients with chronic diseases. 

 

Winner Category 2: Most Likely to Scale: Direct Diagnostic - Elsemieke Hackenitz – CEO – Netherlands

The Product: A data-driven personalised e-health platform, providing preventive healthcare through a convenient CE-marked self-collection finger prick blood testing service. Results are shared via a secured platform and users receive a personalised report with actionable insights and recommendations on how to improve, maintain, or protect their health.

The Product: A digital and gamified approach to improving patient experience, while helping clinics, hospitals, rehabilitation centres, nursing homes, pharmacies, and physiotherapists, to expand their responsiveness and unlock a new revenue stream.
