What is it? A public consultation has been launched to help shape the future of the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT).  How can we have our say? The general public and stakeholders in innovation, research and education are invited to share their views of the EIT and on how the EIT’s work might be improved.

The EIT and the European Commission’s Joint Research Centre (JRC) strengthened cooperation by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) today at the EIT Headquarters in Budapest. 

A researcher and educator with experience in Europe, the US and the Far East, Marina Ranga offers a unique perspective on the challenges facing European innovation and entrepreneurship. We got her thoughts on this issue, as well as a subject close to her heart: women entrepreneurship. What does the word innovation mean to you? 

Business Plan Ideas Competition for Innovation in Raw Materials The mission of the EIT RawMaterials is to foster innovation and entrepreneurship by driving and promoting projects all along the raw materials value chain. The philosophy of the Business Idea competition is to help future potential entrepreneurs in creating technologies and business models with a high growth potential within the raw materials sector and in all related fields.

Furhat Robotics - makers of the world’s most social robots - is in San Francisco for the Startup Europe Comes to Silicon Valley (SEC2SV) programme - September 12-20.

Ten promising healthcare startups from around Europe honed their pitches, made connections and picked up development grants during the eight-week EIT Health LaunchLab, a “pressure cooker” programme to assist entrepreneurs with turning their ideas into commercially viable businesses. The programme culminated 15 September with a competition in which all the participants presented before a jury of experts at in Delft, pitching ideas like image-recognition software for spotting microbes, a more affordable prosthetic leg, medical tourism schemes and a better type of hearing aid.
