Newsletter - Issue 8/2024 - EIT expands innovation hubs across Europe and celebrates training over 880 000 learners
Welcome to the latest from the European Institute of Innovation & Technology (EIT).
To mark ten years of the EIT Regional Innovation Scheme (RIS) – a programme designed to bridge Europe’s innovation divide – the EIT announced a significant expansion of its network, launching 16 new innovation hubs across Central, Eastern, and Southern Europe. And aligned with our work in increasing women-led innovation and entrepreneurship, we published a study revealing encouraging progress in gender diversity within deep tech start-ups: the percentage of women founders has doubled since 2010.
More exciting news is that over 500 000 learners have been trained under the EIT Deep Tech Talent Initiative, with the programme on track to reach 1 million by 2025, and over 100 000 learners have been trained with the EIT’s European Battery Alliance Academy. These numbers add to the significant work the EIT is doing in entrepreneurship and education, having skilled over 880 000 students and workers.
