EIT Health's EIT-labelled International Master of Innovative Medicine programme

Creating marketable new solutions to transform healthcare requires abilities in life sciences, entrepreneurship and innovation. EIT Health’s IMIM programme focuses on all three of these fields.

The International Master in Innovative Medicine (IMIM) is a multi-disciplinary programme that seeks to attract applicants from different backgrounds who have an excellent academic record and a passion for translational biomedical research. The two-year programme complements bimolecular life science studies with intensive training in entrepreneurship and innovation, and focuses on the education of tomorrow’s leading translational biomedical researchers.

Learning from two or more institutions

IMIM students are trained by at least two of the three EU partners: the University of Groningen (The Netherlands), Ruprecht-Karls-Universtiät Heidelberg (Germany) and Uppsala Universitet (Sweden). Students will attend both a Spring school dedicated to the development of soft skills and a Summer school focused on private sector priorities and the societal impact of their research.

Who should apply

Applicants should have a bachelor’s degree in one of the following fields: biochemistry; pharmaceutical sciences; biomedical sciences; genetics; molecular biology; biotechnology; medicine; dentistry; or a related discipline.

EIT Label and Erasmus recognition

IMIM provides 120 European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System credits and has earned the EIT Label, a certificate of quality for master’s and doctoral programmes that combine excellent scientific education with innovation and entrepreneurship training. EIT-labelled degrees encourage innovative pedagogies and incorporate mobility schemes involving multiple institutions, to help students form the next generation of health innovators.

IMIM is also an Erasmus+ programme and has been awarded the Erasmus Mundus Joint Master Degree programme (EMJMD) excellence label in 2015 and in 2019.
